FTIR VSphereTM
Nonvolatile Residue Measurement Accessory
The
VSphereTM attachment is an accessory for the
qualitative identification and quantitative measurement
of Nonvolatile Residues in solvents. The solvent is
placed inside a gold plated bowl and evaporated. A thin
film left on the walls is detected in a process of
multiple transmission-reflections. The applications
range from cleanliness to environmental. The minimum
detection limit for hydrocarbons is in the range of
single micrograms. Patent pending. The
VSphere was developed in collaboration with Boeing Rocketdyne,
Canoga Park, CA and is available for use with the SOC 400
hand held FTIR. Developed to meet the need for detecting NVRs in
solvents brought about by the EPA's elimination of freon based
solvents, the VSphere accessory is a revolutionary device which
eliminates the solvent from the spectroscopic analysis. VSphere
accessories are used in Boeing's and NASA's cleanliness inspection
facilities and at 3M Corporation in industrial hygiene applications.
